summer traditions: august: The Transfiguration of God - 6 august

According to the belief during the night before Transfiguration the God's gate shows up and opens in the sky and God appears. When a man has no sins he can see that gate and whatever he wants God gives it to him. There is a similar belief on Epiphany (St. Jordan's day).
People should not eat grapes on that day. It is first carried to the church, it is censed by the priest, carried from house to house and then it can be eaten.
