summer traditions: june: Petrovden (Peter's Day) - 29 june

      The Petrov Shrovetide that start on the first week after The Fiftieth Day end on Petrovden. A chicken called petrovsko is slaughtered. Ritual breads are kneaded and apples petrovki that are given away in some placed as a commemoration of the dead are ate. Fairs are made in some villages.

      Church Holiday: According to the saying the St. Apostles Peter and Paul were brothers. St. Peter, who is portrayed as a saint dressed in white attire holding the keys to the Heaven's gate, is honored on this day. He determines which soul is pious and which is not and decides who goes to the Heaven after his or her death. St. Paul is honored but not by the canon on the next day - 30th June.
