autumn traditions: september: St. Sofia, Vjara (Faith), Nadejda (Hope) and Ljubov (Love) - 17 семптември

The memory of the Roman Sofia and her daughters - Faith, Hope and Love, killed in a cruel way under the order of Emperor Adrian is honored on this day. Their images represent the Christian morality - faith in God, hope in his goodness and love towards God and the near ones.
Women give away bread and fruit for health. Everyone shows mercy to the people in trouble- they help poor people, orphans and they never refuse to invite a guest.
This is also the patron day of Bulgaria's capital Sofia.
