autumn traditions: september: Malka Bogoroditsa (The Birth of the God's Mother) - 8 september

      It is celebrated mainly by women so that they stay alive and healthy and give birth easily and so that the God's Mother help then when they are in trouble or when they are doing hard work. A bread is kneaded in her honor and it is broken into pieces and given to everyone in the family and one piece is left for the cattle and the house.
      In some regions of Bulgaria women do not wash, weave, sow and knead during the time between Goljama Bogoroditsa and Malka Bogoroditsa for the health of their children. In some places they sacrifice a ram in her honor.

      Church Holiday: The birth of the Virgin Mary is celebrated on this day.
